The LEAP Framework Pilot Project in a Rural Context
What is the LEAP Framework in a rural context?
There is wide recognition that rural specialists have often had
limited access to CPD events and opportunities. This project aims
to offer a range of events both face-to-face and via videoconference.
CPD activities are being developed to test the relevance and usability
of the LEAP Framework for specialists in a rural context. These
activities are complimentary and run in parallel to the activities
of the Support Scheme for Rural Specialists (SSRS).
What are rural LEAP activities?
New activities of a generic nature will be offered in 2004 and
2005. It is hoped that the generic activities will have wide appeal
and interest a cross section of medical practitioners. Examples
of these activities may include ‘Management of the Difficult
Patient’, ‘Mentoring’ and ‘Domestic Violence’.
Activities such as these will demonstrate different aspects of the
framework.
Expectations of participants
As well as participating in the activity, we would like to talk
to participants about their experiences. This will be through telephone
interview or focus group. We will also send you an evaluation questionnaire
so that we can get your feedback about the event and how it fits
with your CPD.
Credit points – CPD or MOPS
All events will earn points from Colleges who pre-approve events
and allocate credits to your CPD program. Alternatively, if you
count your own points or don’t do points, you will be able
to put an overview of the activity into your CPD portfolio.
